The 40 Year Old Hoya

Balancing the desire to dance with my muse with work, grad school, relationships and real life - without going completely honking mad...

A Sunday Catch Up

No, your eyes don’t deceive you.

Sun and patio and cool (nice breeze) translate into a partially lazy Sunday morning.  Partially because I went to the trouble of making myself an omelette (leftover rotisserie chicken, buffalo wing cheddar, crushed red pepper) and am now on the veranda with you fine people, sipping my coffee and as John Lennon would say “watchin’ the wheels”.

The cold/allergy one-two punch feels abated today - still a little snuffle, still an occasional cough, mostly well.  I’ve passed through decompression from the semester (thanks to my Lady Love and our Puerto Rican sojourn) and am in full on relax mode.  Vintage Virginia wine festival yesterday yielded a new bubbly and a head full of “aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh”.  Today is probable movie and dinner with friends.  And I’ve already taken Wednesday off - Wednesday being the day the 40 Year Old Hoya is no longer, and the 41 Year Old Hoya takes his place (ooh, aah).

Work on the rewrite of the first 50 pages of the novel-in-progress continues, and should be completed this week, so I can then plunge headlong into the next piece.  I think I have the beginnings of an ending in mind.  I just need to get it there.  Meanwhile, short stories bubble and churn in my noodle and wait for their time to assert themselves.

In the meantime… back to my Sunday.  A little surfing, a little relaxation… it’s good to be the king of my domain.  :)
